Situated at the rim of Panonia depression, in the valley of river Bosna, Doboj has all the predispositions for a successfull development. Being situated at the above sea level height of 146 meter, Doboj has very siutable position (44 o 44' – North geographical length and 18 o 16' – East geographical length). Since, it is limg nearby the mouth of Usora and Spreca in the river of Bosna, it always had great prior conditions to become an important center of communication. After building railway and the road traffic this becomes true. Doboj has also become an important center of turism and entertainment. There are trails which prove that the area around the mouth of Spreca and Usora in the river of Bosna has inhabited even before new era. Still, it takes a lot time for prahistorical colony to develop. A lot of water has flown away to create the town called Doboj.This area becomes important by the inhabitance of Slavic people in VI and VII century. Although, the researchs say that the rests of fortress basis dated from the period of Roman people, we believe that the fortress was built in XII century, by the strenthening of Bosnian country. Just like all the others small towns which egsisted in the period of Bosnian country, Doboj has been developed economically. The name of Doboj has been documented in 1415, for the first time. It was the time of internal quarrels in Bosnia, the time when internal life of Bosnian country had become to change and the Ugar king Sigismund, and the Osmanian threats on the South. Still, Doboj gained the most progress. Everything was changed by the arrival of Turkish people in 1463. It defend itself successfully till the year of 1476 when it passed in hands of Turkish people, when the progress stopped. It is interesting centuries which came after. The period of Turkish reign was followed by the islamization. Doboj was in hands of the Austrians several times but the occupation in 1878 and annexation were the key for realization of Austro – Ugarian aims. Exploitation was about to start.
