Way to my country Bosnia
My history The tools and materials
My name is Selim Husakovic, date of birth 09. July 1946. I was the fourth child of my parents, my father Salih and my mother Emina – born Halilovic. I finished primary school in Grapska Gornja and my high school – Chemical tehnical school, department of technology, I finished in Doboj. My family belonged to the middle class of society, because my father was a mason and carpenter, this trades that my older brother Kasim is inherited. I was very interested in finearts and writing poems while I was in primary and high school, but I have never worked intensively on these.

After I got married I started making sculptures spontanously because it was a kind of challenge for me. Each of my works was unique. I started making sculptures intensively since 1974, but I wasn't educated well in this field so I enjoyed a huge support of on academic painter from Doboj called Ilijas Kruškic. In that period the cultural creators of Doboj had an association withing Working University and the Museum of Doboj, whose member was me.
All the exhibitions that happend in this period lasted from spring till fall within working organizations, from April when the day of Doboj's releasmentwas celebrated till the authentic national creativity review that happened in Hotel ”Kardial” , Spa ”Vrucica” in Teslic. All these manifestations were supervised by Republican representative of art, lead by Franjo Likar, an academic painter from Sarajevo. Cultural creativity of that time was followed by the Folklore organization 'Bosna', which would rasom exponates and sell them as a part of art creativity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. I have never had na independent exhibition, only the collective one in Doboj, Sarajevo, Tuzla, Srebrenica. At the ”Energofis” in Sarajevo, in 1975, I won the second place and I got a silver medal. My works are made of a lover of tree – tree stump, they were like my own roots where I used to looking for a beauty of greatness.

Types of wood I used to work with are walnut, peer, acacia, plum, mulberry tree and oak. The exponates I had, were destroyed during the war, as my house wa burned and destroyed along with my effort in all the segments of my creativity and proving myself as an artist although I was very close to have my own exhibition. The war has left deep trails on my personality so I tried very hard to put in my works all that I believe we should never forget. In my other works, through the flower's I managed to concentrate myself at love that we lack nowaadays because we are occupied by the interest and the fast living, losing the sense of beautiness around him. I've made a portrait of Libian president Muamer Gadafi and I delivered it to his residence, while being in Libia (1979-1980). Creating, means describing the time we live in, what makes the museums full of exponates which testify about the movement of human civilization.

The problems in nowadays society have that kind of nature that the man wouldn't be able to survive doing this job, no matter that this mirrors the real picture of society.
